Don't Hate The Lesson. Play the Game.

Run thru those obstacles like your dreams depend on it

In This Week’s Newsletter: The art of not letting life life you. New music from Tha Eastsidaz, Megan Thee Stallion, plus October London

What’s up!

It’s Tuesday. So, you already know what time it is. Time for tacos, margaritas, and another issue of Because It’s OK.

A lot has happened between now and last week:

  • DJ Clark Kent passed - RIP 🕊️

  • Lil Durk got arrested for a murder-for-hire plot

  • Tha Eastsidaz made a triumphant return - Still Easty (album)

  • I chopped it up with Philly’s We Talk Weekly (sp???) // hyperlink).

A lot, I know. It’s a full-time job keeping up with the news, podcasts, YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, your job, working out, eating healthy (90% of the time), having friends you see more than 3x/year… Blah, blah, blah. It’s just A LOT!

So, super shout out for taking time out to catch up with me right now. Also, shout out to everybody who left positive feedback on last week’s issue.

If you didn’t get a chance to read it - we talked about the magicality of finishing Q4 strong.

Because… why put in all that work throughout the year, just to quit 3 feet before the finish line. It just doesn’t make sense. Might as well cash out on your effort.

With that being said, now let’s touch on powering through challenges when challenges try to power through you.

Some people view obstacles, challenges, and setbacks as life’s way of seeing if you really want it. While others get hype from overcoming them. Then, you have those that just give up and say “life is life-ing” 🥴

I’ve been through all 3. And that last one is no joke!

But let’s not miss how challenges posture you into BEING who you need to be to handle your blessings responsibly.

Challenges are the business because they…

  • Build character

  • Teach lessons

  • Help you weed out the unnecessary

  • Will have you questioning your entire existence (A misunderstood benefit 😂)

Bonus: Challenges make you unf*ckwithable [because you know you can handle anything life throws your way]

For instance, if I would’ve blown up when I wanted to, there’s no way I would’ve been able to handle it.

Kind of like one-hit wonders that find overnight success, get caught up in the fame, and blow all their money and opportunities before returning to their old life. But, now with the shame of being “Damn Homie. What the f*ck happened to you?!”

I don’t want that for myself. I don’t want that for you either.

So, trust the process and watch it work. You’ll be happy you did 🤗

‘Til next time,

Keish.

3 ALBUMS

Megan Thee Stallion - MEGAN: ACT II

One of my favorite sh*t talkers is back with a deluxe edition of her last album. I really love Megan’s idgaf energy. Because.. why should we care about what other people think? Especially if those other people aren’t paying our bills 💅🏾

Leon Thomas - MUTT

This one came out late last month. But I’m still going to leave it here because it’s just that good! I love Leon’s soulful cadence and production. It’s giving “on repeat”.

October London - October Nights

Now, this one is for the grown and sexxy (with 2 x’s). Now signed to Death Row Records, October London is booked and busy paving his own lane. Complete with classic cars, tailored suits, and cigar smoke. “October Nights” is perfect for romantic nights on the town. Or adventurous nights in your bed. The call is all yours
